“We build shared visions on the circular economy with our main partners and major customers”

The circular economy paradigm will enable us to achieve a more sustainable, competitive, decarbonised and resource-efficient society

TECNALIA has held a meeting with a small group of partners and major customers. Luis Lehmann, consultant, teacher and content generator for the promotion of sustainable economic development based on the circular economy, was the keynote speaker in the debate.

Lehmann, who has been involved in public management and the environment for more than a decade, has worked in various executive positions in which he interacts with international organisations, such as the Inter-American Development Bank, the United Nations Development Programme and the German Agency for International Cooperation, among others.

Senior executives from Acciona, Alba, Belako Lanak, Cementos Lemona, FCC, Grupo Etxeberria, Nortegas, Viuda de Sainz and Zabalgarbi took part in the meeting. Attendees agreed that it was a high-level debate and served to align the construction of a common vision on the circular economy among companies.

New production and consumption model

Our society faces the great challenge of developing a new production and consumption model. A model in which the value of products, materials and resources is retained in the economy for as long as possible; in which waste generation is minimised and those that cannot be avoided are used to the greatest extent possible.

All of this creates ambitious challenges that open up important business opportunities for all actors in multiple value chains in our economy: opportunities related to eco-design, re-use, recycling, recovery and technology can help us to take advantage of them.
