“The certificate issued by TECNALIA Certificación for the TECNALIA certified mark is based on the UNE-CEN/TS 15679 standard”
Savia® has obtained the TECNALIA Certified quality mark for its Thermopine heat-treated wood
Savia, a Finsa brand, has obtained the TECNALIA Certified mark for heat-treated wood for the three tree species used to produce wooden façades; i.e Pinus radiata, Pinus pinaster and Pinus sylvestris. Savia specialises in the industrial processing of wood, and its product catalogue includes Thermopine heat-treated pine façade solutions. This material is designed using the most advanced technology: it increases wood durability, making it the ideal choice for outdoor spaces.
TECNALIA Certicación with its recognised TECNALIA Certified mark, offers an innovative solution, in which housing is more sustainable and integrated into a new, more inclusive urban model.
During the heat treatment process, a chemical modification of the wood structure takes place due to the effect of temperature. The reorganisation of its cell wall increases durability and significantly reduces the hygroscopicity of the wood, resulting in a significant improvement in dimensional stability.
This project has served to gain in-depth knowledge of the performance of thermally modified wood, to certify the improvements that heat treatment offers for outdoor use, and to offer architects, developers and end customers a guaranteed product for their wooden façade projects.
TECNALIA is in charge of carrying out rigorous tests that certify the product
The findings of the study were presented this week at the IRG54 world congress on wood protection organised by IRGWP in Cairns, Australia, as a preliminary step to the standardisation of such innovative solutions.
