The research work is being carried out at the Petronor refinery in Muskiz
TECNALIA is working with PETRONOR on the research and development of a series of machine learning tools for the digital transformation of its refining process. One of PETRONOR’s strategic goals, as a company of the REPSOL Group, is the development and adoption of digital technologies as a base to increase the sustainability and efficiency of its production process.
The OIL TWIN initiative aims to determine and characterise the deviations between the planned and real production, and, on the other hand, infer product quality based on process control magnitudes.

This project is funded by the Basque Government’s Elkartek Programme, as well as the two collaborating entities. This R&D and innovation programme enables the Basque business fabric to research until developing concept tests that are validated in laboratory environments on key technologies with an impact on the business.
