These films extend the shelf life of foods and preserve their nutritional and organoleptic properties after processing and packaging.
TECNALIA is developing coatings that extend the shelf life of foods and preserve their nutritional and organoleptic properties after processing and packaging. In addition, using these films provides benefits such as: a reduction in environmental pollution by using edible materials from renewable sources; greater food safety, with consumers receiving food at home in the best possible condition; and opening up new markets, as products can be transported over long distances without losing their properties and/or deteriorating.
These coatings are aimed at packaging companies that handle fruit, suppliers that carry out post-harvest treatment, meat processing/packaging companies, and suppliers of packaging for fresh food.
