TECNALIA creates an open platform for improving nanotechnology-based medical and diagnostic devices.
The health needs of the population and clinical practice are creating an increasing demand for new biomaterials and technologies (micro and nano) for innovative medical devices and in vitro diagnostics (medical technologies - MTs). Demands for them are growing in the fields of regenerative medicine, cancer treatment, advanced therapies, neurology, cardiology, orthopaedics and dentistry.
The aim of the SAFE-N-MEDTECH initiative in which TECNALIA is involved is to create an open platform to provide companies and reference laboratories with the necessary skills, knowledge, networks and services. It facilitates the development, testing, assessment, improvement and market exploitation of nanotechnology-based medical and diagnostic devices.
SAFE-N-MEDTECH provides a multidisciplinary and market-driven innovative approach to healthcare providers. It is based on a deep understanding of the nanoproperties of materials, their advanced use and applications in MT and other safety-related aspects (electrical compatibility, electromagnetic properties, etc.).
