TECNALIA to hold the vice-presidency of the spanish industrial hub on the Human Brain Project (HBP)

6 June 2019

The objective is to understand the human brain and foster knowledge transfer to companies

We have been elected to take over the Vice-Presidency of the Spanish Industrial Hub of the Human Brain Project (HBP) through Jesús Valero, our Health Director. Alfonso Beltrán García-Echániz, Adviser to the Carlos III Health Institute, and General Manager of the Health Prospective and Innovation Foundation in Spain (FIPSE) will preside over it.

The HBP is a European Union FET Flagship project which began in October 2013 funded by the FP7 Framework Programme. Its objective is to understand the human brain, facilitate European scientific leadership and foster European competitiveness through knowledge transfer to interested business sectors.

The Spanish Hub for Innovation (SHI) is made up of diverse companies who have already signed up, as well as those that will join in the future. The SHI is understood to be a continuous process, open to the incorporation of private entities with R&D activities in the fields of neuroscience, medicine, ICT and other fields of research applied to the human brain, within the scope of the HBP or, with the desire of doing so in the future.
