We are collaborating on the design of new methods for the assessment of functional capacity in the elderly

Together with ATHLON Clinics we are collaborating on the design of a new method to perform a functional assessment aimed at the elderly. This method incorporates the equipment and system of the David Spine Concept strength and mobility assessment, already used for the back by ATHLON in its clinics. The solution Equimetrix  developed by TECNALIA is also used for balance assessment.

The next step is to validate the proposed method by comparing the results obtained with other methods and scales commonly used in the assessment of frailty.

We will develop an analytical study between May and September in which 20 people over the age of 60 will participate. During three sessions of an hour and a half, we will analyse different aspects of the participants such as pain, balance, quality of life and strength etc. The sessions will be held at the ATHLON clinic in Donostia-San Sebastian, located at Calle Urbieta nº 50.
