We have visited the D-WAVE team to explore possible avenues of collaboration in the field of open innovation in quantum computing

Our colleagues, Aitor Gomez-Tejedor and Eneko Osaba have had the opportunity to visit the D-WAVE team in Burnaby, Canada, in order to explore possible avenues of collaboration in the field of open innovation in quantum computing. During their visit, they participated in very productive technical meetings and were invited to an informative tour of D-WAVE's state-of-the-art facilities.

The visit was organised by Pau Farré, Director of Benchmarking Programs at D-WAVE. Jose Pinilla andParham Pashaei, from the Quantum Algorithms Institute, and Steve Wilton, from the University of British Columbia, also participated, all of whom are well-known collaborators with TECNALIA, whose contribution was fundamental in making the event possible.

As a result of this visit, several lines of research of common interest between TECNALIA and D-WAVE have been identified, which are expected to soon be turned into new opportunities for collaboration within the framework of open innovation.

Collaboration between TECNALIA and D-WAVE

The collaboration between TECNALIA and D-WAVE emerged in an international webinar entitled "The Rise of Quantum Computing in Supply Chain and Logistics Management". TECNALIA was responsible for teaching one of the modules. This event marked the beginning of a promising collaboration between the two entities focused on open innovation.

This collaboration stems from various research initiatives that TECNALIA has carried out using D-WAVE's annealers. These initiatives are part of the Basque Government's BasQ strategy and are specifically part of the BIQAIN initiative, led by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, which promotes open innovation as an engine for development.
