"As a result of the recovery of this industrial waste, a valuable secondary material with a low carbon footprint will be obtained for the construction sector and the chemical industry"

We are working with Agaleus and Aludium to recover the aluminium fume dust obtained during the production process

The industrial waste manager Agaleus, the aluminium manufacturer Aludium and TECNALIA will join forces in the KE-AL initiative to recover aluminium fume dust and improve their processes through the development of new technologies. The aim is to reduce the carbon footprint of the aluminium manufacturing process.

Product for the construction sector and the chemical industry

The aim is to recover this industrial waste and hence obtain a valuable secondary material with a low carbon footprint for use in the construction sector and in the chemical industry.

Given its aluminium content, the product obtained will have interesting characteristics and will be intended for use as a raw material for high value products, such as high porosity products. This will also prevent the waste from being dumped in landfill.

System that guarantees the safety of the process

Another important aspect of the initiative is to guarantee safety at all stages of the process, as fume dust contains aluminium and its handling and treatment may have high reactivity.

New technologies will be developed to facilitate the transport, storage, processing and dispatch of the product, along with its traceability.

KE-AL is an initiative backed by the Hazitek Programme in the Basque Government’s Department for Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment.
