Wearable technology: wearable devices

3 December 2018

We work on smart materials and industrial applications such as the Operator 4.0

Wearable devices are already a reality and are being used at a tremendous rate. According to Cisco System, there will be 177 million connected devices (jackets, glasses, watches, bracelets, etc.) during 2018: the next stage of the mobile revolution.

These types of devices are present in a wide range of fields: security of employees that are exposed to certain dangers in their work; the textile industry with children’s clothing that send a message to your smartphone if your baby has a fever; health, with devices for diabetics that measure the amount of glucose; and sport, with smart materials that measure your heart rate and vital signs while counting the kilometres covered and the calories burned.

At TECNALIA for example, we are working on smart materials and industrial applications such as the Operator 4.0, applying indoor positioning technology, wireless technology, RFID, NFC, and embedded wearable systems for operators and parts.

If you would like to know more about wearable devices and their different applications, we look forward to seeing you on 12 December at the event organised by Bilbao Ekintza, which will bring together the demand and supply in one place.
