Autobuses cero emisiones para el transporte urbano

“The project addresses key challenges: autonomous and connected bus, digitalisation of mobility and sustainability (development of existing electric buses and the first hydrogen urban bus prototype in Spain)”

The DIGIZITY initiative will create more than 50 products, systems and subsystems for cleaner, more efficient and more convenient public transport

The decarbonisation, digitalisation and automation of urban transport with zero-emission buses are the objectives pursued by DIGIZITY; an ambitious project that unites collaboration over the next two years of manufacturers of buses, engines, components and on-board systems, as well as telecommunication equipment, and the national operator of the ADO Group to implement innovative solutions in the sector.

DIGIZITY aims to implement a zero-emission city model, promote sustainable mobility and generate a modal shift from private vehicles to public transport. It will create more than 50 products, systems and subsystems, all aimed at cleaner, more efficient and more convenient public transport.

A pioneering environment in Europe to test vehicles and systems

In Zaragoza, the DIGIZITY project will create a pioneering environment in Europe to test vehicles and systems related to the concept of sustainable, autonomous and connected mobility.

More than 4.2 million travellers will be able to participate in technology tests over the next two years. It also contributes to reducing energy consumption of the public transport system through energy efficiency measures in vehicles and the automation and digitalisation of operations.

Contribution of DIGIZITY

DIGIZITY is aligned with the expected impacts of the Spanish Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (E-PRTR) and the European Flagship Initiatives. In particular, this project contributes to the national objectives related to the promotion of hydrogen-powered heavy vehicles (Power Up), the registration of 250,000 electric vehicles and the deployment of up to 110,000 charging points (Recharge & Refuel).

Collaboration of companies and technology centres

This project, led by the Avanza Group, involves companies such as the IRIZAR Group, NEXTIUM-IDNEO, TELNET and three technology centres: ITAINNOVA, CTAG and TECNALIA.
