Alex Belaustegui, re-elected Chairman of TECNALIA
26 September 2024. Alex Belaustegui, on behalf of Ingeteam, was unanimously re-elected Chairman of TECNALIA research and technological development centre by the Board of Trustees at the meeting held today at the Bizkaia Science and Technology Park. Belaustegui, who became the centre’s vice-chairman in 2016 and then the chairman in 2020, will remain in this position for another four years.
On being appointed, Belaustegui said that “these have been four very complex years, marked by the challenges we have faced as a society, including a pandemic, several wars, humanitarian and financial crises. In such a turbulent context, technology and innovation are now more strategic than ever, and efficient agents in their development and transfer, such as TECNALIA, have become essential. TECNALIA is excited about and committed to this new stage, knowing that it is supported by companies and administrations. TECNALIA, as a member of the Basque Science, Technology and Innovation Network and as the largest technology centre in Spain, is a tool that serves companies and society. Its aim is to anticipate needs in order to boost the economic and social impact through technological research and innovation and to enable a sustainable future”.
As an Industrial Electrical Engineer with an International MBA, he developed his professional career at EVE (Basque Energy Agency) and at SENER engineering. He is the current Corporate Development Director at Ingeteam, which he joined in 2002. In 2010 he was appointed CEO of the Head Division Indar within the Ingeteam Group, a position he held until 2019, when he moved to Ingeteam, S.A. as Director of Corporate Development and UP Manager.
Mª José Armendariz, representing Gestamp Automoción, will take up the position of Vice-President of TECNALIA and Fernando Irigoyen, representing Kutxabank, will become Secretary.
