Plan to improve air quality in Granada and its metropolitan area

Granada

Consideration of a series of future air quality scenarios that take into account diverse actions in the fields of mobility and urban planning. It aims to develop a modelling system, experimental measures, climate evaluation and an assessment of the contribution of the different sectors to air quality.

Air quality is one of the major environmental problems within urban centres, mainly due to moving traffic that increases the concentration of particulate matter and pollutant gases.

The project aims to develop a modelling system (based on PROKAS) of the air quality levels (PM10 and NO2) which enables the Plan to improve air quality in Granada and its Metropolitan Area to be modified through the analysis of different scenarios that combine specific measures and corrective actions.

It combines experimental air quality measures, the evaluation of weather conditions and an assessment of the contribution of the different sectors to local air quality levels.

The final client of this project is Granada City Council.
