Remotely-operated surgical robot with 3D vision and touch-sensitive functions. Its simple and flexible configuration enables it to be used in laparoscopic surgery. Furthermore, the metal structure that supports the robotic arms is non-bulky and easy to move, which is an essential requirement if the procedure ends up becoming open surgery.
This surgical robot has three manipulator arms on mobile structures that can be fixed in any position around the patient. Each of these structures acts as a camera, left clamp or right clamp. The surgeon can control its movements using haptic joysticks to receive tactile information, the force applied and a 3D image of the patient’s cavity.
The main characteristics of this development are:
- Portability and compactness of each manipulator.
- Precision in the positioning of the surgical instruments.
- Simplicity in the sterilisation process.
- Ease of extraction of manipulators from the procedure area.
- Possibility of wireless power supply.
- Start-up time.
- Open and scalable system.
- Low installation and maintenance costs.
