SURFIN is an automatic surface inspection system for steel products. It is based on artificial vision and artificial intelligence capable of detecting real-time defects at the same point as they occur. It can operate at high heat (1000ºC) and high speed (10 m/s) for non-flat geometries (round and structural profiles).
PROBLEM/OPPORTUNITY
Defects appearing during the lamination process are detected in end-of-line inspections. This means that sometimes there will be tonnes of defective material until the defect is detected and the production line is stopped.
