OASIS multi-pilot lines are aimed at boosting the market potential of nano-enabled multifunctional lightweight composites, in particular aluminium and polymer matrix composites
The OASIS initiative brings together the manufacturing capacity of 12 pilot lines for the industrial production of unprocessed nanoscale structures; nanoscale intermediate products and nano-enabled products, as well as other complementary techniques (modelling, characterisation, toxicology, life cycle assessment), and technical services (coaching on business innovation, business planning and access to private capital).
These modular services will be provided to companies, particularly SMEs, to gain access to unique facilities and knowledge without the need for major capital investment. Support is particularly necessary between three Key Enabling Technologies (KETs): nanotechnologies, advanced materials and advanced manufacturing and processes; especially in the age of multifunctional products when a wide spectrum of know-how is needed for pre-production and/or low-medium volume industrial production.
Multi-pilot lines and infrastructures
Companies will have access to these extensive supply infrastructures through a single entry point, which will ensure good customer relations and quality management from the time the order is placed until delivery.
Six industrial showcases will be used to validate the manufacturing capacity of the OASIS multi-pilot lines; lightweight products (TRL6-7) ensure a significant impact on the construction, automotive, energy and aerospace industries. The full range of OASIS services for SMEs will be shown through 6 - 12 case studies, which will be selected from identified and potential customers through an open call, to ensure the highest possible impact.
OASIS will set up an economically sustainable open innovation structure, building on previous investments for the full benefit of European companies that introduce new value-added products based on nanotechnologies.
