“Data is the new oil of this century, Óscar Lage, Head of Cybersecurity & Blockchain at TECNALIA”
TECNALIA proves its leadership and commitment to innovation in blockchain and DLT
TECNALIA colleague Óscar Lage was the General Chair of the Organising Committee at the Salamanca Tech Summit, a congress hosting this blockchain scientific event, together with Javier Prieto from the IEEE Blockchain Spain Initiative and the University of Salamanca.
Óscar gave a presentation called “AI Security and the Data Economy”. He highlighted the importance of data in artificial intelligence and presented key findings such as:
- Data is the new oil of this century.
- Data spaces need to be created on a European level so that companies can use this data responsibly.
- With no data, there is no artificial intelligence.
Oscar also took part in the round table called “The Convergence of AI and Cyberdefence”. He discussed the intersection of AI and cyberdefence with leading industry professionals.

Sustainability and industrial resilience
Borja Urkizu and Julen Bernabé took part in the workshop called “Blockchain for sustainability and industrial resilience (BL-SDG)”:
- This workshop focused on exploring the potential of blockchain technology to advance sustainability and industrial resilience goals.
- It aimed to understand how this technology can enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability across various industries, including but not limited to manufacturing, logistics, smart cities and energy.
Santiago de Diego presented a paper (OASEES initiative) describing a decentralised authentication system based on Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) for vehicles in Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) connections to prevent spoofing in when platooning vehicles.
