Energy-generating buildings using smart thermal networks

Transformation of the buildings of an urban district into energy generation nodes, connected to a new concept of low temperature smart thermal network for maximum thermal production, minimum non-renewable consumption and the reduction of the peaks in thermal loads through demand control strategies.

This project is based on the creation of a flexible, scalable and non-invasive transformation process that enables a combined approach at a district and building level, which resolves the problem of the reduction of the aggregate energy consumption of buildings, through their conversion into energy generating nodes connected to a Low Temperature Smart Thermal Network.

This project, based on a new range of products specifically developed for this application, creates a base structure in the Basque Autonomous Community to research and develop new buildings and urban areas with maximum autonomy and energy savings, as well as new technologies, products and solutions that enable maximised solar heat production to be obtained and optimised use, offering local production surpluses to the grid for use in other buildings.
