The eco-designed electrical substation: efficiency and sustainability

subestación eléctrica ecodiseñada

Eco-design of electricity substations to obtain greater efficiency in the consumption of materials and energy which leads to a reduction in production and maintenance costs of the equipment and the substation, along with a reduction in environmental impact throughout the entire lifecycle.

The NEOSUB project addresses the design and development of electrical substations based on ecodesign criteria, in order to provide operators, engineering firms and manufacturers of substation equipment with competitive advantages associated with greater efficiency in the consumption of materials and energy:

  • Reduction of production costs and the maintenance of facilities.
  • Minimising the environmental impact of infrastructures throughout their working life, reducing emissions and/or discharges in the manufacturing stage and also during installation, use and maintenance; and promoting the reuse and recycling of equipment and materials.

This project is being developed by a group of companies, led by BOSLAN, with the participation of ARTECHE, GENERAL ELECTRIC, IK INGENIERÍA, INGETEAM, ORMAZABAL, ZIV, and the ENERGY CLUSTER.
