Research into digital twins for the optimisation of the use of batteries in the grid

Development of digital twins of cells and battery modules (battery twins), in which models, status estimators and real time data are combined. This approach provides a virtual replica that emulates the behaviour of a real system, contributing to the optimisation and maintenance of the energy storage systems.

Within a collaborative framework, our experts participate in:

  • The development of a battery digital twin architecture: inputs and outputs, measurement parameters, modules and interactions between them, model and algorithms. The development focuses on the uses of stationary storage systems connected to the grid.
  • Development of the physical model based on experimental data. Development of modules for the estimation of the status and prediction of the useful life of the battery.

Validation of models using available data and laboratory testing.
